PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
- Before work commences, examine the areas to be covered and report any deficiency or adverse condition in writing to the general contractor and architect.. Do not proceed with work until surfaces and conditions comply with the manufacturer's instructions and ANSI A 108.5 specification requirements. For more details, see "TCNA Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation" and The National Wood Flooring Association's Installation Guidelines Manual.
3.2 SURFACE PREPARATION
- General: Clean and remove all dust, oil, grease, paint, tar, wax, curing agent, primer, sealer, form release agent and any deleterious substance and debris which may prevent or reduct adhesions.
- All structural floors shall be structurally sound, stable, level and true to a tolerance in plane of 6mm in 3m (1/4" in 10'). See TCNA Handbook and ANSI Guidelines for details.
- In all cases, the structural design of the floor shall not allow a deflection greater than 1/360 of the span under live and dead loads.
- Test floor for vapor drive in accordance with surface flooring manufacturer's recommended installation procedures. Generally, vapor drive should not exceed the industry standard of <3.0 lbs per 1,000 square feet in 24 hours. If moisture exceeds flooring manufacturer's specifications, follow their installation procedures for moisture control.
3.3 INSTALLATION
- VERDEX® Acoustical Sound Mat: Engage an experienced installer to install in accordance with Manufacturer's Installation Instructions, procedures and techniques.
- On the properly cleaned substrate, apply enough V-BONDTM or equivalent using a V-notch or square-notch trowel according to manufacturer's instructions located on bucket.
- Set the acoustical panels while adhesive is wet. Apply sufficient pressure to activate adhesive.
- Leave approximately 1mm (1/32") spacing between panels and 9.5mm (3/8") between VERDEX® and materials which they abut such as walls, drains, pipes, conduits, columns and posts.
- Install floor finish according to the manufacturer's installation instructions.
- Install V-SEALTM acoustical sealant in gap around perimeter of the work, around drainpipe and conduit openings and at the base of any columns.
